UI Gallery

There's not really a lot to say about this, it's a gallery of some of my UI designs. Some never made it past the prototype stage, some were fully implemented.

Basically this should give you an overview of some of the systems I've been working with, but by no means all.

If you want to see what my latest designs look like, here's a couple of Camtasia captures.

Note: Everything you see here was coded in asp.net no Flash or Silverlight was needed.

Traditionally what you see on the website is dictated by the Designer and Developer, oh you might have some control over what information is displayed but how it is displayed? Not so much, but all that is now changing; why? Because of Smartphones; people have got used to having all their information in one place and displaying it as they want. Okay most monitors aren't touchscreens but that level of control should be available for everything else.

In this first example you'll see that I've given the user complete control the complexity of the screens they are viewing, without having to rejig code in any way shape or form.

In this second example you'll see how I've given the user control over their environment.

We are - I think - about to reach a stage where the Web will finally come of age as a true digital medium. HTML 5 and CSS3 will allow us to do in normal code what only plugins allow us to do at the moment. Add in to this the pressure for change offered by Mobile Devices, not just phones and Android handsets but from dedicated web devices - of which the iPad is merely the first - and the possibilities are truly amazing.

A decade ago it would have been unthinkable to offer services without person-to-person interaction, now we see a time where services are moving to human-to-web interaction, and at the heart of this is the user. The sites that allow the users to operate as they choose, in ways they choose, to access services they choose will be the ones who will achieve the greatest success.
