The Ramparts worlds are written in the style of the old 1950's 'Astounding Science Fiction' stories. They rejoice in the tongue in cheek humour and sheer exubrants of those old stories and are shamelessly nostalgic in feel.

The storyfollows the adventures/misadventures of a disgraced policeman who is living out his life in a tropical paradise on a planet far from Earth. From the moment his house is destroyed by a giant seatoad, he is thrust back in to his family's politics and must face a hostile invasion by an alien species who are converting humans into a different species.
